Our Values: Affirming All People

Depression, Anxiety & Addiction

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that humans experience. Sometimes these emotions can lead one down the path of addiction, which can be difficult to overcome on your own. Addiction can take the form of a substance or a behavior. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy!

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma isn’t always rooted in a single event— it can be the result of a chronically unhealthy environment or situation. Trauma lives in the body and so, very often, traditional “talk therapy” doesn’t address the root cause. Our therapists are trained to work both bottom up (with the body and senses) as well as top down (talking) to resolve one time or chronic trauma. Trauma is not a life sentence; we focus on your resiliencies and strengths to move from trauma reaction to post-traumatic growth.

Sexuality & Relationships

What we do inside relationships matters more than any other aspect of human life; indeed it is how we heal and grow. There is no one-size-fits-all in life, which is why an excellent fit between you and your therapist is critical. Experience teaches what works, and what is unique to each person. The bottom line “non-negotiables” are mutual respect, authenticity, a non-judgmental atmosphere and a willingness and desire to work together to create meaningful change. We hope and expect you will find all of these elements working with us.

Gender & Orientation

Learning to live your truth can be one of the greatest life challenges. Coming to terms with any form of queer gender identity, sexual orientation, or romantic orientation in environments hostile to queer existence can feel isolating and even scary. We work to help lift the barriers that have held you back, coming up with new solutions that build resiliency, healing, and growth for yourself and your loved ones. Gender and orientation are more than mere “identities”— they are undeniable realities that deserve to be celebrated and embraced, not merely “tolerated.”

Affirmative Care with BIPOC Identified Clients

We serve members of the global majority affirming the unique experience of each individual in the community. We incorporate somatic approaches to healing with the understanding that many of these skills have been strategically taken from BIPOC individuals as a form of oppression. Clients have the option to connect with therapists who have lived experience as well as anti-racist clinicians who continuously engage with literature and their own generational trauma to hold space for members of the global majority. In order to counter financial barriers to receiving quality care, you can apply for funding through the Princeton Foundation for Elevating Equality here.

Our BIPOC and BIPOC-affirming therapists will support your journey towards feeling increased comfort in your own skin, unity with your emotions, and resonance with your thoughts.

Affirmative Care with Clients in the Field of Sex Work

We provide stigma-free therapy to people working in the oldest profession in the world. We believe sex workers also do healing work and deserve compassionate care as front line workers. Our client-centered approach allows us to collaborate with you on your therapy goals without pathologizing your work. If financial hardship poses a barrier to accessing affirming care, we are proud to offer low to no cost therapy through our partnership with Pineapple Support. Contact us for more information about how to register with their program.

Affirmative Care with LGBTQIA+ Identified Clients

We serve people in a way that affirms the unique experience of each individual in the community. We incorporate somatic approaches to healing as well as incorporating the understanding that trauma, stigma, discrimination, and rejection play a disproportionate role in the creation of mental health distress. Clients have the option to connect with therapists who have lived experience as well as clinicians who continuously engage with literature and their own generational trauma to hold space for folx with a lived identity different than theirs. In order to counter financial barriers to receiving quality care, you can apply for funding through the Princeton Foundation for Elevating Equality here.

Our queer and queer-affirming therapists will support your journey towards feeling increased comfort in your own skin, unity with your emotions, and resonance with your thoughts.
